A presentation of the James Joyce International Literary Society
In 1907, James Joyce dictated the final pages of
"The Dead" to his brother Stanislaus from a hospital bed in Trieste. This was to become the
15th and closing entry in Joyce's short story collection, The Dubliners. Our society commemorates the centennial of this event by awarding Anne Pigone The Gerty McDowell Award, 2007.
The James Joyce International Literary Society proudly presents Irish author and playwright, Anne Pigone's modern day parallel to "The Dead", "The Ugly". We also provide you with the most authentic and accurate text of James Joyce's great short story available on the Internet.
